At times my work has served as a form of nostalgia-fueled escapism where comfort is found in objects and ephemera from the bygone decades of my youth. In this instance the subject matter was sourced from a vintage photograph. I omitted the periphery, intentionally creating a sparse composition not unlike the incompleteness of memories where details have been fragmented and blurred by the passage of time, and rendered it in marker, a favorite medium from childhood.
