This video is part of a series experimenting with using social media (primarily Instagram) as not only a platform for sharing, but as a means and method for artmaking - specifically digital collage - including how its parameters influence or dictate processes, format, and subject.

 

Works are created entirely on a smartphone using the social media application’s short-form video tools, gif search engine, and audio library. It represents a confluence in the moving image genre as they are distinct from forms such as film, projections, or typical 3D digital works, yet the utilization of video, animated gifs and sound sets them apart from standard static and silent digital collage. The result is a hybrid that opens a conversation on how social media can be used in transformative, undesigned ways and as a medium unto itself.
