These works are part of a series titled Sanctified Hag ruminating on society’s devaluation of women as they age, especially regarding marriage, becoming infertile, and mate selection according to social exchange theory. The tragic spinster, the sad old maid, the dried-up crone. The platitudes declaring women as less desirable once beyond a certain age are abundant and persistent still even as women rise above many traditional trappings and typecasts.

The colors and materials are at once juvenile and racy, a reflection of the data-backed bias males tend to exhibit when perceiving female attractiveness, while reproductive parts are rendered almost toy-like in a decidedly humorous manner yet not devoid of an undercurrent of attention-seeking courtship-like display. These works lay bare societal prejudices for consideration including the role women sometimes play in their perpetuation even if unwittingly.
